Today was an extraordinary day. Bella Bella celebrated the arrival of the olympic torch and two Heiltsuk were chosen to carry the torch - Cliff Starr, who is a basketball star and our hero and Wilfred Humchitt Sr., a 70year old chief who has a long history of sports involvement. It was magical. My father, George, is in this picture with me - he is 88 years old and was honored as being the oldest Heiltsuk male together with my aunt Emma Humchitt, who will be 90 years old in Apirl. She was honored as being the oldest Heiltsuk female and both were in attendance to bless the torch bearers.
